Description: The XMM-XXL survey (PI: Pierre) covers an area of 50deg2 to the flux limit of ~1e-14erg/s/cm2. It is the and largest contiguous X-ray survey currently available at the depth above and therefore well suited as a testbed of eRASS. The equatorial field of the XMM-XXL covers 25deg2 is centred at RA=2h DEC=-4deg and overlaps with the CFHTLS-W1 and the VIPERS galaxy spectroscopic survey (see attached figure for the field layout). The X-ray data have been reduced following the metods of Georgakakis & Nandra (2011). The resulting source catalogue consists of ~8500 sources. Plz contact the Antonis Georgakakis for access. As part of MPE's participation in the SDSS-III, X-ray sources in that field have been targeted by 5 special plates during the 2012 (PI Merloni) and 2013 (PI Georgakakis) SDSS-III Ancillary project (see attached figure of the layout of the spectroscopic plates). A total of ~2500 X-ray sources have secure redshifts. The project combines the SDSS AGN spectroscopy with the VIPERS galaxy spectroscopic survey (~21,000 sources) to measure the AGN/galaxy cross-correlation function and then infer the mean dark matter halo of AGN. The redshift range of the same is 0.5-1.2 with a mean of ~0.8. We aim to compare the results with the GALFORM SAM (Fanidakis+13).

Data used: X-ray data of XMM-XXL, SDSS photometry of optical identification of X-ray sources, SDSS spectroscopy, public DR1 of VIPERS galaxy spectroscopy survey.

Project conclusion / Publication date: We aim for submission by Dec 2014 / Jan 2015.
