== How to login to the machine ==

 * download x2goclient and install (e.g. [[http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php]])

 * edit preferences (use gnome)

== How to start IRAF ==

 * open terminal

 * go to directory {{{~/iraf_work}}}

 * enter {{{cl}}} to login to iraf

 some hints for IRAF::
 :: iraf uses the texteditor vi to edit parameters; use :wq to save and exit the editor
 :: you can use normal linux commands if you use ! in front of your command
 :: remember to open ds9, an astronomical imaging program, for the display commands to work
 :: '''IMPORTANT:''' iraf has a wrong image size setting, do not forget to type in: reset stdimage=imt4096
