How to start up observatory

  • Check weather (outside conditions)

  • Log on to control PC via VNC skydome.mpe.mpg.de port 5200

  • If not started, start up windows explorer.

  • Log on to ePowerSwitch 1
  • Check if focuser and mount are powered see ePowerSwitch #1.
    • ePower01AllOnCCDoffMarked.JPG and if they are reall running

    is running. If not switch it on Port 2
  • Power up mount (switch on power supply, then toggle mount switch both on ePowerSwitch #1)
    • if not yet powered up (usually it should be powered up).
  • power imager(s) if not already powered up (ethernet PDU)
  • open dome

How to start up GOWI

  • cool imager to target temperature (-30C typically)
  • start dark and bias frame sequence
  • set focuser to expected setting for the night (if known)
  • take skyflats until start of actual observations
