A quick start quide to using MPE Mail Facility
Mail services at MPE are provided by the mailing machine. It provides IMAP and POP services as well as a WebMail interface. To get an account on that machine, contact the central DV group.
Using mail facility: The basics
There are several ways to use mail facility:
Point your web-browser to the WebMail interface and log in using your user name and password
- Configure your favorite mail client using the following information:
- Server Type: IMAP Mail Server
- Server Name: imaps.mpe.mpg.de port 993
- Use secure connection (SSL)
- Outgoing Server (SMTP): ssmtp.mpe.mpg.de port 587, using STARTTLS (also supply username and password)
Furthermore use the TPL Interface to MPE Database to adjust your personal settings and get further information like MPE phone book with member pictures (only with userid, password).
