Preliminary partitioning using PartitionMagic 8.0

  • install PM from CD
  • disable Norton Antivirus
  • run PM from disk
    • delete partition D:
    • resize partition C: new size 11000 MB
    • new partition: primary partition, FAT 32, size 20000 MB
    • delete extended partition
    • new partition: logical partition, ext3
    • apply pending actions --> accept system restart

  • don't touch the system during system restart and the following partition resizing

Installing Suse 9.3

Partitioning

  • Delete /dev/hda5
  • Create partition: /, 10 GB, reiser
  • Create partition: /other, 10 GB, reiser
  • Create partition: swap, 4 GB, swap
  • Create partition: /home, reiser
